Hi and welcome. This is a site for those who paint, who are thinking of starting or are just interested in seeing how a painting evolves.
Latest updates aLLatest update(s): Lone Horseman - Rider in woods (watercolour)
Field under Snow- Simple watercolour, field, snow and a couple of trees
site will grow over the coming months (or years), but at the moment is largely based around watercolour painting.
Much has evolved from the workshops that I do with local art groups and, as with those groups, the objective is to get you to explore your own creativity. This is a site about creating paintings rather than looking at paintings. If you'd like to see the sort of pictures I produce see my other site- click here .
At the moment this site is dedicated to:-
factsheets these are in two groups; general factsheets on such topics as colour theory and watercolour tips.
Also (you will need Microsoft Excel) a spreadsheet (pricing guide) that may prove helpful when you want to work out how much to charge for you paintings.
demonstrations these are basic, probably better described as illustrated notes. The intention is to get you to use your own creativity to fill in the gaps. They evolved from memory aids that I prepared for the groups that I work with and summarise what we covered in the workshops.
work in progress this makes an occasional appearance and, when there, is up-dated as the demo progresses. When the demo is complete it may be written up for download as a Word document or simply deleted. WIP is presented as a slideshow with minimal prompts in the form of captions.
(Click on a title above, or on the tab at the top of the page, to pull up a menu for factsheets or
demonstrations. Links to other pages or sites are indicated in blue of some shade or other, generally underlined and need only be left-clicked to take you there.)
Please note you will need Microsoft Word to download the factsheets or demo's. Feel free to use them, you may reproduce and hand them out etc BUT it is on condition that you keep the footnote establishing my ownership of copyright. If you enter the site it is on the understanding that you will keep the footnote showing my authorship. Equally, if you quote me, it is on the understanding that you cite this website as a source. Use any techniques shown as you like (there is no copyright for techniques)..
If you have any comments or observations (always very welcome) or if you have a question, please use the contact form. I will reply and if the question is of general interest, I'll try and add an explanation to the factsheets.
Welcome to the site and
happy painting
